Cambridge Speech Therapy
About Me
Hello! I’m Kat and I’m an Independent Speech and Language Therapist based near Cambridge. I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, the Health and Care Professional Council and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice. I hold an enhanced DBS check.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy from City University London and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Linguistics and (Modern and Classical) Chinese.

My Approach
I use lots of games and fun activities to ensure that children enjoy working on their speech, language and communication skills. I love being silly and making children laugh - sometimes they don’t even realise they’re doing work! I love getting to know their likes and dislikes so that I can tailor resources to them; from Batman to Peppa Pig, I've linked therapy activities with a wide range of interests to help motivate children to learn.
I believe in enabling and empowering adults to help children to communicate effectively in a range of environments and I like to work with other professionals including NHS Speech and Language Therapists and education staff to ensure a collaborative approach.
I believe that a child’s parents and school or nursery are the key agents of change when it comes to making progress - they see the child on a daily basis and can make such a huge difference to their communication and confidence. I always want to work closely with the adults involved to make sure that they understand what I'm working on, why I'm working on it and why I want them to work on it too.
My Experience
I have lots of experience working with children and young people with a range of difficulties including hearing impairment, speech delay, speech disorder, verbal dyspraxia, receptive and expressive language difficulties, and developmental language disorder. To discuss your child’s needs, please call for a free 15-minute telephone consultation.
I specialise in deafness and hearing impairment - I hold the Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language. I use sign language and spoken language to work with children with hearing impairment and I firmly believe in giving the child both methods and allowing them to choose their preferred method for themselves. By giving children a foundation in both sign and spoken language it allows them to access both the hearing and deaf world - to be part of hearing and deaf culture.
